Bestarc MIG 145 Review
Переглядів 12321 день тому
This is another awesome machine by bestarc. The digital display and automatic synergetic amperage and wire speed worked flawlessly. The added feature that allows you to manually tweak the amperage up and down can help you fine tune the machine to perfectly match the material you are welding. There is also a lot of versatility with this machine. The ability to switch between MIG to TIG and MMA (...
Making 5 $ Fixture Table Welding Clamps
Переглядів 169Місяць тому
So I got this fixture table from VEVOR off of Amazon and it came with these cheesy C- Clamps which are useless with this table. After searching to purchase some proper clamps I found that a basic set would cost me over 200$. With that in mind I decided to buy some 5/8 bolts and just weld them to the C-Clamp body. This worked out great and saved me a bunch of money. ★ Links ★ Portable Welding Ma...

Vevor Welding Table (Amazon)

This thing is great! If I were to build myself something like this, it would cost me more than 169$ in material not to mention the time that would be invested. This welding table proved to be up to the task of handling the abuse that goes along with metal fabrication. This table is a good size for the at home fabricator or smaller fabrication jobs. I am looking forward to building a custom set ...

Toyota Tundra Lift / Leveling Kit (Flashark)
Переглядів 6353 місяці тому
I have been wanting to do this modification for too long. The bigger tires I installed looked too big for the wheel wells and they rubbed when the wheel was fully turned. This kit did the trick. The truck now sits level and now has a much more aggressive stance and the wheels don't rub any more. I love it ! Technical note You need longer end links to connect the sway bay to the LCA A Wheel alig...

Great job on the rust repair, Scantron! Have you ever tried using a laser cleaner for rust removal? It can be super efficient. Just a thought!
That's a great start for me but my Yamaha rx-1 snowmobile motor doesn't have bolt points for a transmission so I'm looking at using the reduction gearbox bolt points that is behind the flywheel. The output shaft sticks out far so the flywheel will stick out far as well. I'm worried it will put too much pressure on a housing I make out of a cylinder
Wow! that sounds complicated but I am intrigued to see how this works out. That sounds like a cool project. What are you adapting the motor to work in?
Set an arc start point a few mm away from your profile to avoid the nick in the edge, which could lead to cracking on a stressed part.
ooh good tip. That would improve the outcome greatly. Thank you
Which brand was it?
labwork on amazon
@@scantronsgarageany issues with the pickup tube? Only worry with them is the pickup tube and the o ring on the pickup tube
@@812racing No. the pickup tube was nice. It has two mounting bolts compared to the one from the factory. It also comes with both o ring options
@@scantronsgarageboth o ring options?
@@812racing Yes. the directions indicate which o ring to use depending on what pickup tube you removed. They have a diagram to help with this
Where did u plug into engine with the pressure hose?
There is a fitting on the right side of the crank. It has an allen key hole. Remove this fitting and install the fitting I showed to pressurize the system.
Nice, now I can swap my Ford 6.7 to a manual transmission
Glad I could help!
So just wondering did you have any further diagnosis of the original wiring harness that cause that issue when you dove further in to rewiring. Your method worked on my 2500 silverado but I can't understand all my ground cables are in good condition and connected but when I don't have that jumper wrote I lose all spark on the drivers side of my motor. If my ground cables are good ands I'm not finding a broken wrote what would cause that too happen?
I had the same issue. This engine ran fine on this wiring harness not too long ago. The only thing I did was remove it and put it back on when I assembled it. I double checked all my ground connections as well. The only thing I can think of is wire corrosion somewhere making a bad connection. I should note that I completely went through this harness to make it a stand alone and I did not see any concerning issues. Basically, I dont know : /
That looks like a solid repair. Did you consider sleeving the new frame rail to the existing section? Probably overkill for this type of truck... 🤔
Thanks! I believe this will do. If the owner planned on towing a boat maybe but this is just for regular use.
How thick was the metal? Will it be strong enough for 6.9 c 24v thank
3/16 thick. Plenty strong for a 24 valve. I may just add some rib supports for that application though
Are you painting it?
No I am not. I gave this truck back to the owner already. He may paint it though.
This only works if the main shaft is long enough to reach the nose bearing????
No, you must extend the pilot bearing housing to the same thickness as the adapter plate.
Just found your channel, watched a few of your videos so far and this one brought back memories of my military days when we had to get it done with what we had on hand; when you said and I quote "I lack the proper tools to do that; however, I'm cool with coming up with sketchy stuff, so here is my setup".....I busted out laughing (because I can relate) and had to comment, thanks for sharing and great content!
Thank you for watching. And yes this is my life in the garage. I don't always have the proper tools but I must always come up with a way to progress with my projects. And thank you for your service!
There was a vid similar to this where simply moving the control box on the side of the laser table stopped the hf problem. Might help here Idk.
Yes thank you! That is on my list of improvements to make for this machine. I think I was just in a hurry to try it out.
It's great, but what about to cut 3/8" or maybe 1/2" gauge?
Yes it will cut it depending on the strength of your machine. The cut50 I am using will cut 3/8 no problem. You only need to slow the cut speed in the program. I am preparing to make some 3/8 suspension brackets with this machine next.
to block the EMF noise try using some ferrite magnet cores around the the wiring that you suspect. Grounding is also key and you could try using foil shielded cabling
Thank you! I considered the foil shielding but I did not even know about the ferrite magnet option. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Salt huh, that's insane the degree of rust placed on the roads in the USA. It's surprising that the environment plant species can tolerate it too . I do know that less corrosion happens if vehicles ain't parked in a heated garage in winter but left out in the cold instead . Less chemical action at colder temperatures .
No, It was pool chemicals that spilled on the back of the truck that over time ate completely through the truck bed and tailgate and just the tail portion of the frame rails. The rest of the truck was rust free.

you need to put that its a paid promotion! I could tell right off the bat it was a sponsored video. I bought one of these from Temu for 4 bucks and they dont work very well at all. Amazon even sells them for $12 please dont try to rip off your subs!
Thanks

Thanks. I will note that for the future
Vevor will send you a table with 3 legs and want you to send pictures bad customer service save your money build your own
Oh no! My table came with all the needed parts fortunately. I did build my own table as well
What oil filter did you use me up using I can’t seem to find one that fits for mine
I had the same issue, the thread pitch is different. I wo (2016 and up ) und up using a filter from a newer Camaro. I don't know the part number though.
i have a 1999 arctic cat thundercat 1000 motor ( Suzuki-produced, counterbalanced case-reed triple cylinder engine that made 172hp stock). im really thinking about putting in a Mazda Miata . mate it to the car tranny and make the car into a exo car !
That sounds awesome
i gotta give these people credit for doing these videos because ive tried to do them and i just delete them because they are embarrassingly bad
This is a cool idea! I have a Triumph street triple and that is a fun little three cylinder as well. That setup would be cool in an exo- car
I just tried this and oh my God it worked. So many mechanics including myself couldn't figure out how to get spark on that side. So I did what you did in 5 minutes and its running on all cylinders. Thank you so much
Glad it helped!
That’s awesome and a great build.
Thanks again Tom
In reality, what good is a rear brake? I’m building one for my grandson and I’m thinking I’ll add a front brake. Your opinion would be appreciated. Thanks
Needs both! This thing is actually pretty fast. I have rim style front brakes currently. I would prefer the newer and stronger disc brake setup.
@@scantronsgarage thank you!
@@Tomc8030 Sounds like you nailed it
Hey, great video, by the way. You make it look simple. You also mentioned that you did a adaptor plate for K swap on a transaxial I am assuming its its for a 944. I am also looking to do this conversion and looking for some information. I hope you can share what you did that would be super helpful. Thanks Michael
Hi Michael! Yes I purchased an adaptor plate for the K series motor to fit directly to a porsche transaxle. The kit is made by kennedy engineering products. It is pricey but sold as a complete kit. Sounds like a cool swap you have in mind.
You are so inspiring Sir! Audaciously creative. Reminds me of the movie Apollo 13 scene where NASA engineers created CO2 filter out of pile of junks. We need more of this can-do attitude! Bravo~~
Haha.. Thats too funny. It does remind me of that scene in the movie. Thank you so much : )
Hey man, just been watching some of your videos.. cool stuff! Do you have Instagram or FB?
Yeah I do! And thank you for watching. I don't update them too much though. Facebook@turkturkleton Instagram @scantrons_garage
Thank you so much that was the problem on my son's Cadillac Escalade it was the ground to the block
That is great! I am happy this helped you out!
How are these working out. I need to upgrade and dont have a lot of money
So far so good! I haven't ran the engine too hard but I have heard no noise and the engine still runs good.
How do you get the spacing between both plates? Do you just hold the engine and trans to where they touch/meet? How do you know what "thickness" of flywheel/clutch to use?? Full video is also confusing
Yes.. that is exactly how I did it. I also used a factory clutch made for that transmission.
Your channel really deserve more subcriber , my friend...awsome 👍
Thank you so much! I appreciate that. Hopefully things will pick up one day. Thank you for watching
Nice work, well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello, what program are you using, the one where you put the picture
That program was light burn
Wouldn't you need a longer input shaft?
Yes and no. You need to compensate for that difference somewhere. In this case I used an extended flywheel which makes up for the distance the adapter plate created.
So the flywheel hub is just thicker?
How did you get the measurement of how much you needed on the flywheel hub to make up for the plates?
@@johnmahon8471 Easy... I just mounted the engine to the transmission with both plates mounted tp the engine side and transmission side. I measured the gap between the two and then added 1mm to give the throwout bearing some space.
@@scantronsgarage good deal
Does it only use AC rods?
Yes
But this is a DC welding machine. So just any filler rod with flux
Have you tried this on your CNC yet? I’m curious if the high frequency will lead to any EMI/RFI issues.
I did! and yes I had some electrical interference issues but I have just been using the thumb switch. I have a video on it
@@scantronsgarage - thanks! I saw the thumb switch video. I'm building a very similar setup, and I ordered the Bestarc, but I haven't assembled anything yet. I've been wondering if shielding any of the wires would help, as well as pulling the control board off the frame. I guess we'll have to experiment.
@@LoadsofBacon It would help for sure. I had intentions of doing the same however I was too eager to try the machine out and went right to cutting.
Can it withstand over head welding Spark ?
Yes. I have used this setup welding on my back under cars. I have had no issues other than the same abuse your welding helmet takes.
You are a beautiful teacher !! Thanks soo much GOD BLESS YOU
You are so welcome! God Bless Fred!
I was fully expecting this to be in the xxxx digits in regards to price, but atm it's 80 bucks! That's crazy! Nice video :)
Thank you! and yes for the money this is totally worth it
Thank you very much for sharing.😀
My pleasure 😊
Thank you very much for sharing.
You bet! Thank you for the opportunity
But what I wonder is how can the transmission shaft work being it's a 1 1/2 or so back away from the engine now can anyone answer that for me
you extend the flywheel clutch surface out to match : )
No way those components are strong enough for suspension, unless you are putting them on a go cart.
Yes a big boy go cart
Doing all the cutting with a manual trigger. Hell no You are also dragging your torch. Be much better off with a table system with a Z axis and THC.
Thanks for the tip! And yes, that would be the way to go
Can not use a high freq start machine. Change your plasma and you will be all good
Good idea thanks!
